Water infrastructure is having a very interesting moment, with the increasing emergence of large water infrastructure projects being delivered through alternative finance and models such as direct procurement. This panel will look into these new models, and explore how PPP design for water infrastructure is changing and will continue to change in response to new frameworks and environmental factors. Points to be discussed, include:
- The Direct Procurement Model: What results are we seeing from this PPP model? What is the appetite from investors in this?
- How can we consider factors like population growth and extreme weather when considering PPPs in water? How might this change PPP design?
- How can we build future proof PPP frameworks - that considers Ofwat’s regulatory frameworks alongside private investment and project delivery
